Ivy began creating 3D Jelly Cakes about 4 years ago. She has produced hundreds of mesmerizing jelly cakes ranging from various floral arrangements, koi fishes, corals to succulents. The Jelly Cakes are perfect for important events such as birthday parties, weddings, wedding anniversaries, company events, Mid-Autumn festival, Valentine’s Day, and other Asian festivals. Ivy’s goal is to produce high quality custom-made 3D jelly cakes that create surprises and register everlasting memories of these remarkable events.

She started pursuing this art of 3D Jelly with her hobby in baking. To begin with, she was not someone who considered herself artistic. She was inspired by this 3D jelly cakes once she saw on Facebook a few years ago. It is not only pretty and unique but also low in calories compared to most other desserts. She started researching everything that she could find on the internet about this art, but she was unable to self-teach herself to make it perfect. Hence, she contacted a group of 10 friends and invited a teacher.  However, due to the large group, she was unable to learn much from this class. As she genuinely persevered, she joined another class almost within 2 weeks afterward to ensure she mastered the skills.  After the second class, she has not stopped since making 3D Jelly cakes. If you are passionate like her, there will be endless possibilities to exercise your artistic skills and determination.

Many people often ask her where she gets her inspiration to create. She believes it is mainly from Mother Nature and through careful observations of the surrounding environment.  New ideas always come unexpectedly from simple and ordinary things such as designs on the plates, glass, wrapping paper, greeting cards, fabrics, and also various pictures that are found online.

The 3D Jelly Cake is made by injecting colored-seaweed jelly (alginate) into an agar mold upside-down using special stainless steel tools and needle. Each flower is created petal by petal, and the entire 3D Jelly creation could take up to 5 hours to complete, depending on the complexity of the design and the size of the cake. Ivy invested her time and patience to complete one. However, to her, it is always delightful when she unmold the jelly to reveal the final product of her creation.
